Last week I spent a week travelling down Northern California, and touching on the Central Coast (Morro Bay & Capitola). Whilst not a full on photography trip, I did manage to get 8 rolls of Xpan film shot. Shooting the giant coastal redwood trees on a panoramic camera is no mean feat…it’s tricky to compose, and always dark on the ground! I’m looking forward to seeing the film, and definitely learn from the experience. One of the big problems with a non-photography trip was trying to pack light, and therefore leaving my normal heavy tripod at home for a new light one I got prior to the trip. I do have to say I love working with a heavy stable tripod as it makes shooting much easier…light tripods have their place, but not with an Xpan sitting on top.
I’ll post more about the trip when the film comes back, but in the meantime, here’s a highlights clip!
