With a wedding tomorrow, today is the last day of my first full-on week of training since my calves were giving me trouble & some weird virus attacked me for a few days near the end of April. But I think the rest it gave me has paid off as I’m back running trouble free…fingers crossed! And the picture below is a welcome relief! I’m back on the hills! Not to the extent I was before and I won’t be pushing it as hard as I want to stay healthy…but these hills are needed to get me somewhere near ready for the Alcatraz run!
Also helping with the recovery after runs is a natural cryo bath…up to my thighs anyway! Having a sheltered bay like Dorrins Strand on the doorstep is mega for that…nothing better than very cold seawater! I just have to time it right so there’s actually water in with a mid to high tide!
Brick sessions have started again too and I can finally incorporate that hill below into the session. That’s the new Knocknarea hill climb across from where I live. I spent all February running up & down it, but injury forced me off it. But with the brick sessions I’ll be doing, I’ll either be doing it right at the start of the run after the bike, or right at the end of the run…and in the week leading up when I go to San Francisco, I’ll be doing it at the start & end of the run in my brick sessions.
Thanks to James Connolly for the mega shot!
